With SAY IT ISN'T SO, the Farrelly Brothers (THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, DUMB AND DUMBER) give their former First Assistant Director J. B. Rogers a shot at the big time. The result is another crude comedy that finds laughs in a series of outrageous situations. Working from a script by first-timers Peter Gaulke comedy central tv and Gerry Swallow, the film tells the confused story of orphan Gilly Noble (Chris Klein), who is employed at an animal shelter in Shelbyville, Indiana. When he lands in the barber's chair of the beautiful Jo Wingfield (Heather Graham), he's convinced he's found the woman of his dreams. A passionate, steamy romance develops, but when Gilly finds out that he comedy central tv and Jo are actually offspring from the same parents, Valdine (Sally Field) comedy central tv and Walter Wingfield (Richard Jenkins), he becomes a social outcast. Jo flees to Beaver, Oregon, to reunite with her former fiance, the wealthy but conniving Jack Mitchelson (Eddie Cibrian), but when Gilly learns that he isn't Jo's sister after all, he must track her down to win back her affections. Unfortunately, Valdine wants Jack's money, so she will do whatever it takes to keep the truth from coming out. IN THEATERS JUNE 30, 2006Because of a difficult gestation period, STRANGERS WITH CANDY has endured several mooted release dates comedy central tv and a change of distributor, so fans of the Comedy Central TV show will doubtless be delighted to finally witness this full-length adaptation. The movie revolves around Jerri Blank (Amy Sedaris), a 47-year-old former jailbird, recovering heroin addict, comedy central tv and ex-prostitute with a bemused, elastic face. Director Paul Dinello takes a skip back in time, essentially making this a prequel to the television show, with Jerri fresh out of jail at the start of the film comedy central tv and starting a new life as an over-age high school student. With Jerri`s dad in a coma, she decides she has to excel in school in a desperate bid to awaken him, although Principal Blackman (Gregory Hollimon) comedy central tv and science teacher Mr. Noblet (Stephen Colbert) frequently throw curveballs in her path. The loose plot revolves around the hiring of a consultant, Roger Beekman (Matthew Broderick), to change the school`s ailing fortunes, ultimately resulting in a Science Fair that Jerri is determined to win. But the story is merely a hook on which the cast hangs myriad jokes, with DAILY SHOW favorite Colbert comedy central tv and Sedaris herself deliriously extending gags from the original series. So Jerri`s ability to spin a web of sexual desire over all the high school hotties remains, as do the various After School Special lampoons, such as the lessons Jerri learns from her behavior, which fail to teach her anything at all. Cameos come thick comedy central tv and fast throughout, with Allison Janney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, comedy central tv and Sarah Jessica Parker all appearing, comedy central tv and the overall feel perfectly replicates the original TV series.
